FAQ

What does SelfMosaic do?

It works from 1 to 3 fridge, pantry, or counter photos. SelfMosaic gives you three practical meal options and lets you correct only obvious ingredient misses.

FAQ

Why edit ingredients only if needed?

The first pass gets you to meal ideas quickly. Use the edit step only to correct visible misses, not to manage a pantry database.

FAQ

What kinds of photos work best?

Clear fridge, pantry, or counter photos with ingredients visible in one shot. If the first pass feels off, retake in better light or from a tighter angle.

What are saved meals for?

Saved meals hold the meals you would make again without turning SelfMosaic into another system to maintain.

FAQ

Do I need an account or a subscription?

In the app, no account is needed to try meal ideas from a photo. Start with 3 successful meal generations; after that, SelfMosaic Plus is required for more meal generation at $9.99/month or $69.99/year. Sign in to sync saved meals and recover purchases.

FAQ

Can SelfMosaic verify allergies or food safety?

SelfMosaic suggests practical meals from what is visible, but it cannot check labels, cross-contact, or doneness for you. Use your own judgment: check ingredients and allergens, choose substitutions you trust, and cook food properly.

FAQ

Does SelfMosaic use AI?

Yes. SelfMosaic uses AI to read your kitchen photo and write the meal ideas. Your photo and any note you add go to Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service for that request. Privacy has the full detail.

FAQ

What data is stored?

Your kitchen photo is sent to a third-party AI service for the food request you trigger; SelfMosaic does not keep the original photo on its servers. SelfMosaic temporarily keeps the parsed ingredient read and meal-plan result for up to 24 hours so an exact retry does not run or count twice. Saved meals attach to a supported session or signed-in account only when you choose Save.

FAQ

What do I do if the first pass feels wrong?

Retake clearer photos first. If the same issue keeps repeating, use Support with the screen, what you expected, and what happened instead.
